4 Back-to-School Health Tips for Parents

By Lysol

We hope families everywhere are enjoying summer and the quality time that comes with the season! Before we know it, school doors will open and the excitement and commotion of the academic year will be upon us.

Keep the following tips in mind to help make the transition back to school as smooth as possible:

Complete all health requirements

Annual checkups and routine vaccinations may have fallen on the back burner during the pandemic. Getting sick at the beginning of the year is definitely not how your child should start the year, so in addition to practicing healthy habits such as washing your hands, take your student to the doctor. Before your family calendar fills up with activities, schedule annual checkups including medical, eye and ear exams for your child.

Enjoy the outdoors

As students prepare to head back indoors for school, capitalize on the warm weather while it’s still here by heading to the park, beach or other outdoor spaces for some fun in the sun. Time outside can help students feel refreshed heading into the school year and colder months ahead. Just remember your sunscreen!

Get the right supplies

Prepare your student (and yourself!) for success by acquiring all school supplies early. Make a list to double-check what you may already have at home and pick up everything your child needs to start the year before the stores get crowded with last-minute shoppers. Each school year presents its own unique challenges, and the correct supplies can help your student be ready to tackle anything that comes their way.
