Earth Day is almost here, so gather up all those plastic bottle tops! The ones on your soda bottles. The ones from your mayo jar. The ones from your peanut butter. The ones from your juice cartons. The ones from your … well, you get the idea.
Plastic caps come in all sorts of sizes and vibrant colors—which makes them PERFECT for craft projects. Plus, by re-using these caps, this fun craft becomes an instant recycling project too. And that’s sooooo Earth Day!
Something else that’s sooooo Earth Day is a garden picture! And that’s exactly what we’re going to make with our bottle caps.
Here’s what you need:
- For the tree, lots and lots of green plastic caps
- For flowers, assorted color caps
- For the sun, a yellow cap
- Glue
- Markers or Craft Paints
- Paint Brushes
- Paper
Here’s how you create your garden:
- On your craft paper, paint or draw the base of the tree and a few branches.
- Arrange your bottle caps on the branches so they look like leaves.
- Glue down each bottle cap with craft glue.
- Use markers or paints to finish your picture by drawing grass, flowers, clouds, birds and a sun! See how many other colorful bottle caps you can add to your picture. For example, a yellow cap can be the sun. A purple cap can be a flower. And some of your white caps could be clouds!
- Let your glue dry completely before proudly displaying your Earth Day masterpiece.
