How Parents Can Support Healthy Schools and Teachers This Year

By Lysol

It’s hard to believe the summer has flown by and students are already back in school ready to begin another year of learning and growing! For some schools across the country, this will be the first time students will be consistently attending in-person learning, and there are undoubtedly questions and concerns top of mind for parents and teachers.

Lysol and our colleagues at National PTA want to share some tips and best practices to help support schools and teachers as your children enter this transition period. By working together, parents and teachers can help support a successful start of the school year.

Keep your child home if they are sick

We know pulling your children out of school may be difficult, but if they are exhibiting any sign of illness, keep them home from school so that they can avoid spreading germs to others. As cold and flu season nears, on top of concerns regarding COVID-19, being more cautious will not just benefit your child, but also their fellow students.

Become familiar with your school and local guidelines

Health and safety guidelines are constantly updated based on new research, and they can be very different based on where you live. Check-in with your school or school district on their requirements to help curtail the spread of COVID-19, as well as monitoring local government guidelines. As we have seen over the past 18 months, these mandates are ever-changing, so also be prepared to support your child through changes that may happen over the course of the school year.

Encourage your school to promote healthy habits

To help teach students how to practice healthy habits, encourage your school to use Welcome Back Pack resources! Welcome Back Packs are available for educators nationwide to download and print on Lysol.com/HERE. They include fun and educational resources such as informative posters, fun activities, useful stickers templates, and engaging lesson plans that encourage healthy habits such as handwashing, social distancing, and wearing masks.

Stock your child’s classroom with disinfecting supplies and help others too!
